Have you ever noticed how easy it is to sell out on yourself when you are up to big stuff? Have you also noticed how hard it is sometimes to share with others what you are up to, because you do not want them to hold you accountable, even when you are sure it’s something you want or even need to do to make an impact, either in your own life or in the world at large. Whether you are changing careers, leaving a relationship, investing in your future, or altering the course of humanity, the degree to which you will have an impact is directly related to your ability and willingness to stay in action, regardless of what fears may threaten to knock us off the path.
Listen, there isn’t a person alive who has not sold out on themselves at one time or another. Being afraid of change is a natural part of life. It’s not at all useful and it’s a total pain in the butt, but it’s a part of life, nonetheless. The other thing about fear is that you may not recognise its present until you have already sold out. It’s OK. Breathe! There is a solution, which is to learn to recognise the signs of selling out before you actually do it. I have listed three of them.
