8 Tips to Hack Your Way to Greatness
By Anne Bachrach (USA)
Rarely is anything an overnight success. It can take years of hard work before it pays off, and that can be a hard truth to accept. But there are tips and tricks, or habits really, that you can implement into your daily life to pave the way to a successful future for you and your company.
These tricks below are a mix of productivity hacks as well as personal life hacks to help you perform at your best and build an extraordinary legacy. With practice, they will become second nature, and allow you to free up your mental bandwidth to tackle the tasks that will grow your business exponentially.
- Prioritise Taking Accountability
As a business owner, you are responsible not only for your own outcomes, but the outcomes of the people you hire. A great leader has insight into the day-to-day operations of their business and has the ability to empower their team as well as step in when needed. Additionally, you can’t expect your team to take accountability for their actions and decisions if you don’t set an example first.
Taking accountability in everyday situations helps you to learn how to take responsibility for your destiny overall. You are in charge of your success, and when you get into the practice of taking action instead of making excuses, you’ll go further than ever.
- Take Care of Yourself
Greatness can’t be achieved when your body and your mental health are not performing optimally. The idea of hustling 24/7 and wearing burnout as a badge of honour is outdated. In order to succeed, you need to take care of your body.
That might mean incorporating a consistent workout routine into your day, whether that’s early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Some people prefer to start their day by getting their body moving, which may actually promote greater productivity.
Pay attention to how your body feels throughout the day. Are you getting enough sleep? Or are you powering through on a bad night’s sleep? According to a 2016 business school study, leaders who prioritised sleep were perceived as more charismatic.
- Turn Off as Many Notifications as You Can
Phones can be the primary way in which you do your work, but they can also be incredibly distracting. Turning off notifications to the apps that you don’t need to be looking at can help you focus and be more productive.
Even if you use social media for your business, block off some time each day on your calendar as the designated time to engage with your social media audience. That way, your train of thought and workflow are not interrupted each time your phone pings with a new like or comment. You can even check out some apps that help limit your screen time, so you can spend your time building your ideal business.
One trick to avoiding distractions is putting your phone face down, turn off sounds and vibrations, or even put the phone in another room, while you work on the task at hand.
